Two down, one to go........

June was a busy, stressful and thankful month. Colby had his second surgery to repair and close his palate on June 9th. He also had ear tubes put in place. The surgery went well and the surgeon was pleased with the outcome. This was his second of three surgeries. It is crazy to think that this bright star in my day has been through two major surgeries, two general anesthesia's in his short 10 months here with us. What an amazing little boy he is! We spent just the one night at the hospital (thank goodness) and were home by 1pm on Friday. His recovery with this surgery was easier in some ways. I think this was because we know him better, he is older and because we knew what to expect in some ways and how to handle it. He did awesome, really! He was up and playing with toys and walking with this walker machine during the days. They hardest part was nights! We had grown so accustomed to him sleeping from 8:00pm each night until 6:30 or so the next morning. After this surgery we could only feed him liquids and that just wasn't filling him up which meant he wasn't sleeping all night because he was hungry. Finally, on night 13, he got back on track and slept all night. We haven't looked back since! Oh, and the poor little guy also cut his first top tooth during his recovery! Luckily the next surgery wont be for a year or so, so we are thankful for that!
Colby is now 10 months old, crawling everywhere, pulling up and everything and wanting to go nonstop. He is into everything, loves to kick (yes, I said kick) his toy balls, ride in his wagon, swing outside and walk with his musical walker.
Luke has been busy at the clinic. June brings new interns to the practice and June is an intensive month of training and preparing them for the rest of the year. It also happens to be one of the busiest months for work as well.

Colby and Luke the morning of surgery.

Waiting to have dinner in San Francisco.

Of course I should be playing with the DVD player......
