Birthday Boy!

We celebrated Colby's first birthday this past weekend.  His actual birthday was Friday but we had his party on Saturday evening.  We shared a great week with Grammie Brenda, Papa Jack and Aunt Haley.  Colby loved playing and hanging out with them, especially Haley.  The boy already knows a pretty girl when he sees one and boy did he flirt!
Some great friends stopped by to celebrate with us.  Colby had a fantastic time playing with his good friend Addi Archer.  They were like two little chill kiddos.....I think the hit of the party was Colbys wagon.  Everyone took turns pulling some combination of kids around the yard.
We munched on yummy french onion dip, 7 layer dip and chips, brats, hot dogs, Brenda's special baked beans, pasta salad and a layered fruit salad.  I decided to make cupcakes for the party versus one big cake.  Them Haley and I hand piped the frosting on the cupcakes.  I think they turned out quite good.  Colby even liked his!!
Thanks to everyone for their cards, gifts and support for the party.  We had such a great time celebrating our little man's first birthday.
"Howdy" the bouncing cow.....Trying to decide if he likes it or not.

Headed to the birthday dinner Friday night.
 Yummy pasta!!!
Balloons were a BIG hit with Colby!

And then we find Colby playing with the case of water bottles.

 "Here Grammie, try some...."

 Birthday outfit.....rocking the plaid shorts!
 Don't worry, they were empty......

The before and after...hair cut that is!

It was finally "that" time.....Colby needed a hair cut.  It was the last straw when a client was driving by our house on the way to the ranch and saw Colby and Luke.  When she arrived at the barn she said "Oh my goodness, your DAUGHTER has such blond hair!".  At that moment, I called our good friend Katrina and said, "I need an appointment for my little BOY, ASAP!".  So we went to the fancy ladies salon later that day and received our first hair cut.  He was perfectly content chewing on a comb and cup.  I think I got the worst part, because all his fine little hairs went down my shirt!  I do miss the long curls from the back (it wasn't a mullet yet.....) but he definitely looks very handsome and more like a little boy and less baby.

The "do" before......
The "during"....
Help me, please!
 The "after"....All cleaned up!

Summer time.....

Summer has been busy.  After June, we have just been working and playing.  Colby and I took a short trip to CO to see Great Grandma Lou (she has had a rough go lately) and to hang out with Grammie and Papa.  Colby had a ball riding in his red wagon and seeing Papa's cows.  I will say, the flights there and back were totally exhausting.  I felt like I was wrangling a monkey.  You forget how small the seat space is until you are trying to keep your 11 month old from grabbing the lady to the rights hair and the gentleman to the lefts drink.  But we made it!!  Probably wont do it alone any time soon.

Colby recently had an appointment with the ENT office in SFO to check his ear tubes.  Everything is good to go there.  Since we often just drive to the doctor and leave as to avoid traffic we decided this trip to go have lunch by the water and make a day of it.  We ate at the good BBQ joint by Ghirardelli Square, strolled down to Fisherman's Warf, threaded through the European tourists to get some sourdough bread and them walked back along the water.  It was a beautiful day in the city and good to be outside and not sweating!
At the ENT office, sitting like a big boy.
