Legendary things......

There are lots of "legendary" things out there. In fact we have something legendary at Valley Oak Ranch. His name is Legendary Doc or "LD" and he is owned by a great gentleman who lives in Chico. LD has been living at VOR since he tore a tendon in his leg. He is a character.....Well ever since Colby was born we have taken him down to the barn, visited the horses and he has petted them and given them kisses. LD is Colby's favorite! We decided the other night that a few pictures were in order. Hilda, the fantastic photographer captured some great moments. Colby is so happy. We will cherish these pictures! Thanks Hilda!!

Colby loves to ride!

We got a little upset.....

And had to get off LD.

But he got right back on!

We went back to UCSF for a general check up with our Craniofacial team and for a special hearing test to determine if Colby would need tubes put in his ears during his next surgery. This was an interesting hearing test. It has to be done while the baby sleeps. So we had to keep him up extra late the night before, wake him early the morning of the trip and then he couldn't take a nap until the appointment. We are lucky in the fact that the appointments somewhat went along with his daily eating and sleep schedule! The test went fine and he slept for almost 2 hours! The results were a mild conductive hearing loss (conductive meaning that it is from fluid and once he has the tubes in, his hearing should be 100%) in both ears. They will place the tubes during his palate surgery which has been scheduled in June. Placing tubes in childrens ears is the most common surgery for kids in the US....over 1 million sets are placed each year. We are excited to have the palate surgery scheduled, yet it is so hard to prepare for this day. Or I should say, it is hard to prepare for the recovery and after care. You just don't know how they are going to be and I can only imagine how much it is going to hurt to have the upper part of his mouth in pain. Keep us in your prayers as we get closer to June!

A Day With Dad

Colby has been spending some special time with his Daddy lately while I am working at various times on the weekends and evenings. Here are a few pictures that my boss, Hilda took one afternoon when they came down to the barn to visit. Colby's face says it all in a few of them. Miley really, really wanted to give him kisses...Colby really, really did not enjoy the kisses!
