Busy, Busy, Busy

The Bass family has been quite busy traveling and seeing family this December. Colby got to take his second trip via airplane as we traveled to LA to watch Luke's sister Haley graduate from LSU! Congrats to Haley! She is going to start a graduate program in Speech Therapy....How special that Colby's aunt will be able to help him with any speech difficulties he might have in the future:) Colby traveled great on the airplanes once again and we had many activities in LA. We had a special family dinner for an early Christmas, traveled to Natchitoches to see the lights and to celebrate Grammie Bre Bre's birthday, and fianlly the graduation. Colby got to meet both great gramdmas, all his 2nd and 3rd cousins and great aunts and uncles. We had great food, fun times with family. It was so nice to be able to celebrate an early Christmas with family!

Playin' with Aunt Haley....Boy she is fun!

Meeting Great Grandma Nola for the first time.

The light displays in Natchitoches, LA are so cool. We had a great night seeing the lights, having dinner and eating special "birthday" cake for Grammie Bre Bre. This was actually a funnel cake down by the river but they sure were good!

Luke, Haley and Colby at graduation.

Once we arrived home, Christmas was right around the corner. Grammie Paula, Papa Cliff and Tanner were coming out to CA to celebrate. We had several great days despite the rainy weather and had a very special first Christmas with our Colby. He is very blessed to have such great grandparents! Colby got lots of books to read this Christmas and some baby DVD's. He had a great day, although the only difference to him from a normal day was the chance to play with paper and bows! But next year, watch out! Tanner put up a new kitchen light for us and also helped Luke with some other projects. We made and ate lots of great food and played Mexican train dominos.

Thanksgiving Surprise

About 6 weeks ago, Luke and I decided that we wanted Colby to spend his first Thanksgiving with family. We were already going to LA in early Dec., so we decided to surprise Grammie Paula and Papa Cliff on Thanksgiving. The only person we told was Tanner.....who I now know told a few other folks in CO, but they kept it a secret from Mom and Dad. We bought our tickets and off we went. We were a little worried about flying with Colby, but as they say "ya gotta start sometime". Our day started at 2am.....its 1.5 hours to the airport and our flight was at 6am. We made it to the airport fine and the little man stayed asleep until it was time to go through security. Oh, let me back track, we ended up taking 3 bags, the diaper bag, car seat and stroller. This is such a stretch from what Luke and I usually travel with.....we were struggling. Back to security. This is where I was a little nervous, were they going to give my little guy a "pat down"? I grabbed Colby out of the car seat and we went right through the metal detector. The funniest part was watching all our "stuff" on the conveyor belt. I have to find a way to minimize for the next trip. Colby was up and ready for early breakfast. He has his milk and Luke and I had Starbucks....we needed a "pick-me-up"! As we boarded, he was quiet and we just hoped that it would last. And it did...he fell right asleep and slept the entire flight to Denver. Once we arrived in Denver, he had lunch, watched all the airport travelers and just as it was time to board to fly to GJ, he fell asleep again! Too good to be true! His first two flights could not have been better. We arrived in GJ and Tanner picked us up at the airport. We headed home and came up with our surprise entrance. Tanner carried Colby in and Luke and I followed. The look on everyone's face was so priceless. We had a great Thanksgiving dinner and enjoyed our time in CO. We truly have so much to be thankful for this year.
We are off to LA this month to watch Aunt Haley graduate from LSU and for Colby to meet the rest of his family. Let's hope the flights go just as smoothly!

First plane ride in Dad's arms.

Colby got to meet his second cousin Brian and his wife Tracey and their 3 girls, Kylah, Kinley and Kenna while we were in town.

First time sitting on a saddle with Papa Cliff! Notice both their faces are the same expression!

Saying hello to Grammie when we arrived Thanksgiving Day!

All smiles!

Good Times

Here are just a few pictures of Colby. We have not been doing a whole lot here at the Bass house, but with the Holidays right around the corner I'm sure that will change. Colby has been in a great mood and doing well for the last couple of weeks. Check out this kiddos smile.....it melts my heart these days!

"Oh, did you say something?"

Posing for a quick smile with mama

Colby loves his hands these days...they are usually in the praying position or in his mouth. Here he is sitting in his Bumbo seat and sitting up so well for 3.5 months!

Getting ready to watch the Tigers!

This picture is really funny because it was the first (and so far the only time) he has passed out while playing on the floor. The nap only lasted 30 min......
